I hadn't been on the Costa del Sol for a while (last time was in the end of the 80's). Wow, there has changed a lot here!
My favorite course at the time was Atalaya. I found they opened a new 18 holes course and I played it. From friends in the Netherlands I heard that, considered pace of play, it is better to visit the Costa del Sol in the Summer. However, this course was extremely busy I would say. Not that the pace of play was bad (we needed a little more then 4 hours for our round) but I was stunned by the large amounts of people who were willing to fight against the heat on this course. The other courses I played during my stay were significantly less packed. Atalaya certainly still is a popular course for many it seems.
The new course is interesting and the condition was good. There are more water hazards then the old course and I found it relatively easy to walk. But to be honest I think I prefer the concept and the playing experience of the old course better!
